Credit Union Champions Teachers

Desert Financial Credit Union has announced the opening of applications for its fifth annual Adopt-A-Teacher program.

Over 30 kindergarten through 12th grade teachers are set to receive between $500 and $1,500 each for school supplies, totaling $45,000 in awards for Arizona educators. This initiative follows a substantial effort in 2023, when Desert Financial contributed more than $150,000 to educators via its Teacher Appreciation program.

Membership with Desert Financial Credit Union is not a requirement for applicants. Priority will be given to teachers at Title I schools, and those in numerous counties, including Maricopa County, are eligible. Interested individuals should check the program website for a list of eligible counties. Preference for funding will be given to proposals involving long-lasting items or programs that benefit many students.

Teachers can apply for the funds by visiting www.desertfinancial.com/adoptateacher between Monday, Aug. 5, and Monday, Aug. 19. The application requires the teacher’s name, school, district, and a brief description of how the funds will be utilized. The winners of this year’s program will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
