Construction is underway for Maricopa’s first cannabis dispensary, located off Honeycutt Avenue and John Wayne Parkway. This new establishment marks a significant development in the city’s evolving landscape.

The dispensary, named Nirvana, is being built adjacent to an upcoming commercial hub that will also feature a Lowe’s Home Improvement store, an Aldi supermarket, and several other retail spaces planned for the Southbridge Marketplace.

Even though the dispensary is situated near this commercial area, it is not part of the Southbridge Marketplace. Instead, it will be positioned just across from the extension of Honeycutt Avenue, adjacent to Lowe’s future parking lot where infrastructure work is currently being handled by Global Water Resources.

City planners approved the project in June, allowing Nirvana Center Dispensaries, a subsidiary of Trulieve Cannabis Corporation, to proceed. City spokesperson Monica Williams confirmed today that construction is active at the site, referencing it as “the Trulieve building.”

Trulieve, which operates a 64,000-square-foot cannabis cultivation facility in Phoenix, supplies its 21 dispensaries across Arizona. Nirvana will serve as the 22nd location for the company, catering to the growing demand for cannabis products in the region.

This update highlights Maricopa’s shift toward accommodating cannabis businesses, reflecting broader trends observed throughout the state.
