Child Rapist Captured Just Before Attempting to Flee Abroad with Victim: Police

A 31-year-old man from Maricopa, Jacob Moreno, has been charged with multiple crimes, including luring and sexual conduct with a minor.
According to Maricopa police, Moreno was arrested following a report of sexual assault on September 19. Officers responded to a call from a father who reported concerning communications between his daughter and Moreno.
Police obtained the girl’s phone, where they discovered nude photographs of the two, alongside a video depicting sexual acts. Investigators noted that Moreno held a supervisory role over the juvenile at work.
Text messages revealed a troubling exchange, with Moreno suggesting plans to flee the country due to ongoing concerns. He allegedly urged the minor to delete the incriminating images and even proposed that she run away with him.
The father informed officers that he became aware of the situation after overhearing conversations between his daughter and Moreno earlier in the day. Officers have found additional messages from Moreno that explicitly requested sexual favors from the minor.
If convicted, Moreno faces a prison sentence ranging from 18 to 20 years.
