A catering trailer belonging to Roots Eatery sustained significant damage following a fire that erupted from a nearby camper. The incident occurred on the evening of March 6, 2025. According to Maricopa’s public safety spokesperson, Monica Williams, no criminal charges will be filed in connection with the fire.

Authorities reported that the driver of the camper fell asleep with a lit cigarette, which ignited the vehicle. Though the driver’s identity has not been disclosed, the incident has raised safety concerns. Williams stated, “The tags were expired, but nothing suspicious came up when they were ran.” Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

The fire destroyed the camper and caused the siding of the Roots Eatery trailer to melt. In response to the damage, Chef and owner Chris Spear has appealed to the community for support in rebuilding the damaged trailer. “We believe in building back better — not just for us, but for the community we love serving. Thank you for always being there for us. Let’s do this together,” Spear expressed.

Since making his appeal, Spear has noted a strong outpouring of community support. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who has reached out to help during this challenging time.
