Homestead resident Kaela Glueck is making waves in the local canine community with her homemade dog treats. Launching her business, Bailey’s Barkery, in 2022, she aims to provide healthier options for dogs and alleviate the dissatisfaction she felt with commercial pet treats.

Years ago, Glueck attempted to purchase a birthday cake for her German Shepherd, Bailey. Frustrated by the abundance of preservatives and unrecognizable ingredients, she took matters into her own hands and began baking her own treats.

Bailey’s Barkery specializes in all-natural, handmade dog treats, and Glueck’s vision extends beyond her kitchen. She hopes to eventually establish a physical store, although her current focus lies in strengthening her online presence and local customer base.

“I care about the ingredients and recipes, ensuring all dogs enjoy delicious and healthy treats,” she shared, emphasizing her commitment to quality and the experience of each customer.

The bakery’s offerings resemble gourmet food, specifically designed for canine tastes. Glueck’s best-seller, peanut butter bones, are made from simple ingredients like natural peanut butter and whole wheat flour. Customers can opt for these cookies plain or with a yogurt and carob icing finish.

Another favorite includes carrot cake woofles, gluten-free waffles crafted from chickpea flour, carrots, unsweetened applesauce, honey, and a hint of cinnamon. “Gluten sensitivity is common in dogs, so I ensure a variety of options to accommodate different dietary requirements,” she explained.

Moreover, Bailey’s Barkery features pup-cakes, mini cupcakes, and custom two-layer dog cakes, ideal for celebrations such as birthdays and “gotcha days.” With an appealing apple cinnamon flavor, Glueck enjoys creating cakes that closely match human versions.
