AZFEC Stands Firm: Adrian Fontes, Your Attacks Won’t Silence Us!

By the Arizona Free Enterprise Club |
Adrian Fontes, Arizona’s Secretary of State, has consistently faced legal challenges during his time in office, raising questions about his effectiveness. His frequent trips to court, largely related to his actions surrounding election procedures, have garnered attention. Fontes seems to struggle with the role of his office, showing behavior that is more reminiscent of a child than a state official.
Recently, Fontes appeared on Democracy Docket alongside Marc Elias, a prominent attorney who previously worked with Hillary Clinton. They discussed President Trump’s executive order aimed at safeguarding election integrity. In the conversation, Elias questioned Fontes about ongoing lawsuits concerning his Elections Procedures Manual (EPM), which he lost against multiple parties, including Arizona Republican lawmakers. Fontes reacted defensively, resorting to personal attacks on those who have opposed him, including the Arizona Free Enterprise Club and its supporters.
Instead of addressing the legal criticisms constructively, Fontes advised individuals not to contribute to the Club, a move seen by many as an attempt to undermine political dissent. This response highlights a troubling tendency for a public servant to lash out rather than accept accountability.
It’s worth noting that the contributions to organizations like the Arizona Free Enterprise Club reflect voters’ desire for transparency and adherence to election laws. Their backing stems from a collective goal to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, a principle that seems increasingly disregarded by Fontes. His inability to comprehend this underscores concerns about his leadership and commitment to fair governance.
