Author Delves into the Legacy of McCain’s Leadership
Marla Sheiner, a longtime resident of North Central, has published her debut book, “McCain’s Navy Class of ’82.” This work provides an insightful look into the early days of John McCain’s congressional campaign and his extensive public service career spanning four decades.
As McCain’s first press secretary during his 1982 campaign, Sheiner draws on her unique experiences to illustrate the principles that shaped his leadership. The memoir highlights how the Navy’s 11 leadership principles were integral to his campaign strategy. These guiding tenets, interwoven with rare archival documents from the campaign, offer modern readers a benchmark for evaluating leadership qualities in today’s political landscape.
Sheiner expressed her aspirations for the book, stating, “My hope is that readers find the book to be an entertaining and important intersection of first-hand accounts of principled leadership.” She emphasizes its role as a resource for Americans to engage critically with candidates at all levels, reminding them of McCain’s ideals of duty, honor, and patriotism. The book serves as both a reflection and a call to action to foster democratic values both in personal and public spheres.
“McCain’s Navy Class of ’82” is now available for purchase at AuthorHouse and other major online retailers and bookstores.
