Arizona Legislature
Arizona Democrats Stun with Sudden Exit During Border Czar’s Speech

By Matthew Holloway |
During a recent session of the Arizona legislature, Tom Homan, the former Border Czar under the Trump administration, stirred controversy with his remarks, prompting a dramatic walkout by House and Senate Democrats. These lawmakers exited the chamber brandishing signs that named “legal residents and students who have been disappeared by Homan and ICE,” according to reports.
After leaving the House of Representatives, the Democrats gathered outside, joined by a group of 10 to 20 demonstrators who protested Homan’s speech. Senator Catherine Miranda (D-LD1) expressed her concerns in a press release, stating, “It’s disturbing that my colleagues are giving a platform to someone who has caused so much harm to our community.” She further claimed that Homan was responsible for unjust deportations and allegedly violent actions against innocent individuals.
In response to the Democrats’ protests, Homan directly addressed the criticism, stating, “I try not to curse much; if I offended anybody, I don’t care. I get irritated when I started talking about the false narrative being pushed by the left.” He remarked on the Democrats’ exit, suggesting that their actions underscored the challenges faced by immigration enforcement officials under the Biden administration. Homan pointed out that many unaccompanied minors were smuggled into the country, questioning the accountability of those who walked out.
He added, “Under the last administration, the goal was to process quickly and release quickly. We’re now seeing the consequences of that approach.” Homan was adamant that the law mandates deportation for those who do not have legal status, stating, “You can’t demand due process and ignore the decision at the end of that due process, which is an order of removal.”
Homan’s statements emphasized his staunch position against illegal immigration. He insisted, “It’s not okay to be in this country illegally,” and warned individuals without legal status to remain vigilant. He underscored the importance of deportation operations, reiterating his commitment to enforce immigration laws rigorously.
In a concluded rallying cry, Homan affirmed, “We will not apologize for sending two plane loads of terrorists out of this country.” He maintained that his administration’s priorities remain fixed on national security, declaring, “We’re going to keep having wins because President Trump put America first.”
