A video released by National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Ben Petersen exposes turmoil within the Arizona Democratic Party (ADP). In this clip, ADP Treasurer Greg Freeman calls for the ousting of State Party Chairman Robert Branscomb, criticizing him for “burning cash, botched fundraising, and looming bankruptcy.”

Petersen described the situation on X, asserting that the party is in “disarray.” He claimed Freeman’s statements reveal a party grappling with ineffective leadership, warning that they are “on pace for the worst fundraising year in the past decade.”

The treasurer’s remarks, highlighted by Petersen, suggest that the party’s financial outlook is dire. Freeman states, “At the current rate of spending and fundraising, we will be unable to pay our staff or mortgage soon.” He emphasized that without leadership change, the party’s future looks bleak.

Freeman directly called for Branscomb’s removal, suggesting that damaged relationships within the party cannot be mended by someone responsible for their decline. Reports from Mary Jo Pitzl of the Arizona Republic reveal that Branscomb faced censure from the ADP executive board due to a lack of transparency surrounding internal communications.

The censure letter noted Branscomb’s pattern of disregarding accountability and undermining unity within the party. Tensions have reportedly escalated since April 2025, with arguments among top Democrats and Branscomb accusing his predecessors and U.S. Senators of threatening his leadership.

In light of the financial mismanagement, the ADP’s executive committee rejected Branscomb’s proposed budget. Concerns from within the party have been raised regarding its dwindling funds and overall performance, leading to escalating frustrations among donors.

Freeman’s stark warning comes amid a backdrop of increasing dysfunction within the party as it heads toward its State Committee meeting on July 16. The current state of the Arizona Democratic Party raises significant questions about its future direction and leadership.
