Ambitious Entrepreneur Plans to Transform Rebel BBQ into Drive-Through Riliberto’s
Architecture All & Associates, based in Chandler, has plans to transform the former Rebel BBQ into a Riliberto’s Mexican Restaurant featuring a drive-through.
On Wednesday, the Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission will review a proposal to amend the current parking-in-common masterplan. This amendment would accommodate the restaurant’s drive-through and implement changes to the parking lot layout.
The applicant’s letter of intent outlines necessary modifications for the new restaurant to operate at 25 Acoma Blvd, the former site of Rebel BBQ, which ceased operations at the end of June.
A city staff report recommends adding a concrete median on Acoma Boulevard and restricting Birch Square to right-in and right-out access only if the amendment is approved. The proposed site plan details a drive-through entrance from Acoma Boulevard, with an exit onto an alley.
According to the city’s findings, the proposed changes are not expected to increase traffic congestion on nearby streets.
Riliberto’s would join other fast-food Mexican restaurants in the area, including another Riliberto’s location on Kiowa Boulevard and a Filiberto’s on Lake Havasu Avenue.
The commission’s meeting is open to the public and will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the courthouse located at 92 Acoma Blvd.
