Here's how ADOT wants to make SR-347 safer for drivers

MARICOPA, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a public meeting scheduled for August 15 to discuss potential safety improvements on State Route 347.

State Route 347, a critical link between Maricopa and south Chandler, has experienced numerous fatal accidents over the years. This has prompted growing demands from the local community for urgent roadway upgrades.

An ADOT study attributes the corridor’s high traffic congestion and collision rate to “capacity constraints.” From 2017 to 2022, SR-347 witnessed over 950 crashes between I-10 and Maricopa.

To address these critical issues, ADOT has outlined three proposed projects aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety on this vital stretch of road. Specific details of the proposals will be revealed during the meeting.

The public meeting will commence at 5:30 p.m. at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center. Residents are encouraged to voice their opinions on the projects either in person, online, or by calling 855-712-8530.
