Acoma and S. Palo Verde Intersection to Shift to Temporary Four-Way Stop

Starting Monday, October 7, a temporary four-way stop will be implemented at the intersection of Acoma and S. Palo Verde Boulevards. This change is part of efforts by the Lake Havasu City Public Works Department to upgrade traffic signals.
City officials announced that the traffic signal will be non-operational from October 7 to October 15. Motorists are advised to approach the area with caution and anticipate delays, adhering to all construction signage.
The work is part of a broader Traffic Signal Upgrade Project, aiming to enhance the existing infrastructure at various intersections within city limits. Upgrades will include the replacement of traffic signal cabinets, vehicle preemption detectors, and pedestrian push buttons to improve safety.
Recently, the Lake Havasu City Council authorized the purchase of $64,418 in equipment, with an additional $20,582 set aside for unexpected expenses. The total budget allocated from the Highway User Revenue Fund for this project amounts to $85,000.
City Manager Jess Knudson emphasized that these repairs would solve detection problems at the intersection of Acoma Boulevard and S. Palo Verde Boulevard, which currently cause the signal to complete unnecessary cycles.
In addition to this intersection, other locations receiving upgrades include Industrial Boulevard and Lake Havasu Avenue, as well as S. Palo Verde Boulevard and Lake Havasu Avenue.
