ABE HAMADEH: Safeguarding Elections as the Cornerstone of National Security

By Congressman Abe Hamadeh (AZ-08)
The integrity of our electoral system is crucial for maintaining public trust. Recent reports raising concerns about Runbeck Election Services and Maricopa County’s management of ballots during the 2024 General Election have prompted me to call for a federal investigation. I have reached out to Attorney General Pam Bondi to explore any potential violations of election protocols.
This issue transcends political divisions. The allegations point to potential systemic failures and a lack of respect for the chain of custody that safeguards legitimate votes.
As a former prosecutor and Army Reserve intelligence officer, I prioritize due process and evidence. Yet, when there are significant red flags, it is imperative for public officials to take action.
In my experience representing Arizona, I have observed a troubling decline in trust regarding our elections. Polls from 2022 indicated that over half of Arizona voters questioned whether the official vote count accurately reflected every legal vote. Such pervasive distrust threatens the foundation of our democracy; it must be addressed.
Election security equates to national security.
Both the 2020 and 2022 elections in Arizona attracted widespread scrutiny, including audits and lawsuits. While officials claimed that all votes were counted accurately, any breach of fundamental ballot security renders those assurances meaningless.
The American public deserves clarity regarding these allegations.
Therefore, I am urging the Justice Department to assess whether Runbeck upheld secure practices in ballot printing, transportation, and storage.
If protocols were followed, those involved should support a federal investigation to restore public confidence. Conversely, if there were lapses, immediate corrective measures must be undertaken to ensure accountability. A transparent inquiry serves the interests of all parties.
Recent reports suggest a lack of meaningful safeguards and oversight throughout the process. This is more than a mere optics issue; it poses a serious risk. Just the appearance of misconduct can significantly erode voter confidence and foster division.
As a representative of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, I uphold my oath to defend the Constitution, including the right to fair elections. When vulnerabilities are identified, it is insufficient to remain passive. We must investigate, rectify, and restore trust in our systems.
Critics may dismiss this investigation as a mere political maneuver, conflating it with earlier disputes. However, this initiative is rooted in factual concerns and a genuine commitment to bolster democratic institutions.
This pursuit of transparency is not about political gain; it is about accountability for the American electorate.
For Arizona residents, this means your concerns are acknowledged. Your right to a trustworthy electoral process is being upheld.
To the broader American public: we are not undermining democracy; we aim to reinforce it. Our objective is not to create chaos but to cultivate order and trust. A breakdown in faith in elections fractures the entire democratic system.
I will advocate tirelessly for this investigation until responsible action is enacted. It is my duty to represent the people of Arizona with unwavering clarity and determination. The integrity of our elections is too vital to leave in jeopardy. We must address this issue promptly.
