Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Admits to Staging Shocking Central Park Bear Prank
A New Yorker article published Monday depicted Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in an unusual light, showcasing a photograph with his fingers in a bear’s bloodied mouth and a mock grimace on his face.
NEW YORK — Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now running as an Independent presidential candidate, has a peculiar history involving New York’s Central Park. About a decade ago, Kennedy found a bear killed by a motorist and, in a bizarre turn of events, left it in Central Park crowned with a bicycle. This incident sparked a mystery that captivated the city at the time.
Describing the occurrence in a video posted Sunday, Kennedy revealed it would be featured in an upcoming New Yorker article. This article, released on Monday, showcased Kennedy with bloodied fingers and mockingly grimacing, with his left pant leg stained with blood.
This peculiar episode is the latest in Kennedy’s unusual campaign, raising concerns among both Republicans and Democrats about its potential influence on the presidential race. Kennedy has previously admitted to harboring a brain parasite, which led to his dramatic behavior. He has also denied allegations of consuming a dog, clarifying that a widely-circulated photo actually showed him with a goat.
In the video, Kennedy revisited the tale in a conversation with actress Roseanne Barr. He recounted how, on a falconry trip, a woman driving ahead of him hit a young bear. He took the carcass with plans to skin and eat it but ended up in Manhattan with the day escaping him.
Needing to dispose of the bear, his friends, spurred by alcohol, devised a plan to dump it in Central Park as a joke, amid bicycle accident hysteria in the media. Kennedy, however, insists he was sober during the incident.
Two women walking their dogs later discovered the bear and contacted authorities, initiating a brief but intense citywide mystery. Bears are not typically part of Central Park’s ecosystem.
Authorities dusted the bicycle for prints and sent the bear to Albany for a necropsy, concluding it had likely been struck by a vehicle, not subjected to cruelty. However, the bear’s appearance in Central Park remained an unsolved enigma until Kennedy’s recent revelations.
“I was worried because my prints were all over that bike,” Kennedy confided to Barr in the video.
