Arizona’s Bipartisan Budget Cleared by Legislature, Governor Poised to Sign

The Arizona House of Representatives has approved a bipartisan budget agreement just ahead of the deadline, paving the way for necessary funding and initiatives across the state.
The proposed budget totals $17.6 billion and allocates significant funds for various sectors. Among these, $92 million is earmarked for public safety enhancements, while $119 million will address new transportation projects. Education receives a notable boost as well, with an additional $281 million targeted at K-12 programs.
Democratic Leader Oscar De Los Santos commented on the budget’s collaborative nature, stating, “The plan is not perfect, but I’m proud and grateful for the work Representative Stahl Hamilton and our team did.” He emphasized the budget’s commitment to public school students, Medicaid protection, and expanded healthcare access for Indigenous Tribal members and cancer patients.
Governor Katie Hobbs expressed her enthusiasm about the bipartisan effort, noting the budget’s intention to expand opportunities and security within Arizona. She is scheduled to sign the budget bills on Friday afternoon.
