Arizona Senators Shamp and Rogers Reveal Vital Updates on Major Legislation

In the early days of the 57th Regular Session, Arizona Senate Republicans are swiftly addressing legislative priorities. A recent update from the caucus highlights the initial efforts made to advance key bills aimed at shaping the state’s agenda.

Senator Janae Shamp expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Senate Republicans have hit the ground running this session. Our 2025 Senate Majority Plan is focused on three vital pillars: Securing Our Cities from the Front Door to the Border, Preserving the American Dream in Arizona, and Embracing Federalism and State Sovereignty.” She emphasized the responsibility they bear as a majority party, underscoring the commitment to uphold the values that have defined Arizona.

Shamp further asserted, “This session provides a chance to reaffirm principles that contribute to Arizona’s reputation as a symbol of freedom and prosperity. I am dedicated to promoting fiscal responsibility and practical legislation that reflects the needs of all Arizonans.” She concluded with a pledge to safeguard the rights of every citizen throughout the legislative process.

Senator Wendy Rogers, focusing on legislative progress, noted significant advancements in various committees. She remarked, “Numerous Senate bills have successfully passed from their committees over the past two weeks. This stage is crucial as it allows public input on proposed laws.” As Chair of the Judiciary & Elections Committee, she highlighted that SB 1011, which aims to provide election results on the same night, has progressed, promising to boost electoral confidence.

Rogers also shared updates on additional bills: “My bill, SB 1015, now prohibits local governments from taxing blockchain technology usage. Furthermore, SB 1013 mandates a two-thirds vote before raising taxes or imposing new ones. In the Senate Health Committee, SB 1076 will facilitate newborn screening for early detection of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”

Supporters of the Senate Republicans believe they are effectively countering the agenda of Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs despite a divided government. The collective efforts of Senate and House Republicans are seen as vital in protecting Arizona’s interests and advancing essential legislative measures.
