Book event features reimagined ‘Alice’

Families are invited to a special event featuring renowned author and illustrator Jan Brett at the Phoenix Public Library on Tuesday, December 10. She will be presenting her latest picture book, “Alice in a Winter Wonderland,” which reimagines the classic tale in an enchanting Alaskan setting.

In this unique rendition, Alice encounters a white rabbit who is in a hurry, leading her on an adventure filled with whimsical characters and hilarious escapades. These familiar figures from “Alice in Wonderland” are transformed into vibrant Alaskan wildlife, offering a fresh perspective that is likely to engage readers of all ages.

Families can hear from the author and pick up a copy of Jan Brett’s newest book, “Alice in a Winter Wonderland,” at a Dec. 10 event hosted at Burton Barr library (submitted photo).

The event will take place at the Burton Barr Central Library located at 1221 N. Central Ave. Visitors can look forward to a 20-minute drawing demonstration and presentation by Brett. A book signing will follow, but attendees must purchase a copy from Changing Hands to gain access to the signing line. Adding to the excitement, Brett’s tour bus, adorned with artwork from her new book, will be parked outside the library for photographs, alongside a visit from Hedgie, a beloved character from her earlier works.

Admission is free but requires an RSVP due to limited space. Families are encouraged to register in advance, ensuring that organizers can accommodate everyone. Only one book purchase is needed per family to join the signing line, and the first 100 families present will receive a complimentary signed poster from the author.

To RSVP for this festive, family-friendly event, visit Changing Hands’ official website.
