24/7 Lane Closures Set to Start on I-40 at State Line

Drivers on Interstate 40 near the Arizona-California border should prepare for delays beginning Thursday due to construction work. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is implementing lane restrictions along a two-mile section of the highway.
As part of the ongoing construction, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction through mid-October. A reduced speed limit of 55 miles per hour will be enforced to enhance safety in the work zone.
These lane restrictions have been in effect since late July but were previously restricted to Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This initiative marks the first of two paving projects on I-40 near the state line. A second project is slated to commence later this year. ADOT aims to prolong the life of the roadway and enhance the driving experience for motorists.
