16-Year-Old Crashes at 103 MPH While Fleeing Troopers, Escapes Arrest: DPS

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has reported a startling incident involving a C7 Corvette that collided with the monument sign at the Cobblestone Farms neighborhood entrance in Maricopa.
On May 24, 2025, just before midnight, an unmarked state trooper attempted to pull over the Corvette on State Route 347 for speeding. This traffic stop coincided with a targeted effort by law enforcement to crack down on reckless driving in the area.
The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Phoenix, accelerated to 103 miles per hour while attempting to evade the officer. He crashed into a wall at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Cobblestone Farms Drive South, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing the car with severe front-end damage, and airbags had deployed. The driver was found sitting on the curb and required assistance. He was later transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
DPS spokesperson Bart Graves confirmed that due to the driver’s juvenile status, he was released into the custody of his parents as the investigation continues.
