Zoning Board Set to Examine New Subdivisions and Storage Facility Plans
On July 22, 2024, Maricopa’s Planning and Zoning Commission convened, engaging in discussions about several significant developments in the city. The meeting attracted attention as city planners outlined upcoming projects that could shape Maricopa’s future.
The commission will explore three notable cases during its next meeting, inviting public commentary on various residential and commercial projects. Key discussions will focus on the Roers Stonegate multi-family development, which requires a major development review permit due to its size.
This proposed development spans approximately 9.5 acres near Stonegate Road and Alan Stephens Parkway. It is set to feature seven three-story buildings, comprising 216 residential units, complemented by 2.7 acres of open space and 404 parking spots.
Another significant review involves U-Haul’s plans for a new facility on Honeycutt Road at Continental Boulevard. The proposal encompasses three buildings dedicated to storage and truck rentals, totaling more than 159,000 square feet. While initial offerings might not include specific office spaces for corporate staff, potential showroom space exists in one of the structures.
Lastly, the commission will address the preliminary plans for phase two of the Anderson Farms subdivision. Located near Hartman Road and Anderson Farms Boulevard, this subdivision will include approximately 372 residential lots on over 50 acres. Developer Lennar Arizona aims to provide attainable housing options, with home sizes ranging from 740 to 1,450 square feet.
As these projects move forward, they reflect the city’s growth and commitment to meeting the housing and commercial needs of its residents.
