A new dining option is slated to make its debut in Maricopa, as Zzeek’s Pizza plans to open a location at the intersection of Honeycutt and Whisker Roads. The Maricopa Planning & Zoning Commission approved the necessary permits and zoning changes during their recent meeting, paving the way for this venture, which will be the first restaurant east of Porter Road.
The approved requests included a rezone of 2.93 acres and a development review permit submitted by the Phoenix architectural firm Soaring Eight. The new 7,600-square-foot building will allocate just over half of its space for Zzeek’s Pizza, which will feature an outdoor patio for dining. The adjacent suite remains unclaimed, but plans have hinted at future medical or office tenants.
Zzeek’s Pizza, known for its award-winning pies since its establishment in Ahwatukee back in 2013, is recognized for its hand-tossed Brooklyn-style crust, wings, and a variety of dietary options including keto-friendly and gluten-free pizzas. The restaurant garnered multiple accolades for best pizza from the East Valley Tribune and Ahwatukee Foothills News.
News of Zzeek’s expansion into Maricopa first surfaced in April when the restaurant filed pre-application documents. Preliminary plans were submitted in December, showcasing the design and color layout of the upcoming establishment.
This development marks a significant addition to Maricopa’s dining scene, highlighting the city’s growth and the increasing demand for diverse culinary options.
