Wildland Firefighters Battle Massive 400-Acre Brady Fire Near Prescott

The Prescott National Forest and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management mobilized resources to combat a wildfire just south of Mayer on Monday, February 10, at approximately 3 p.m. The fire, dubbed the Brady Fire, has rapidly consumed around 400 acres of brush and grass near Pine Flats off Forest Road 67.
On the ground, firefighters from the Prescott Hot Shots and several engine crews have initiated suppression activities. Air support has also been requested due to the fire’s intensity, which is visible from several nearby communities, including Prescott, Chino Valley, Prescott Valley, Crown King, and potentially the Verde Valley.
Weather conditions are expected to change, with an approaching storm bringing gusty southwest winds over the next few days. There is a forecasted chance of moisture from Tuesday into Wednesday, along with the possibility of light snow showers on Wednesday; however, little to no accumulation is anticipated.
Firefighters have implemented a full suppression strategy, aiming for complete containment of the Brady Fire. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
Residents and visitors are urged to stay clear of the area surrounding the Brady Fire to ensure the safety of both firefighters and the community.
