Weekend Traffic Alert: Navigating Freeway Changes February 14-17

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a series of closures and lane restrictions affecting I-10 and I-17 in the Phoenix area for the weekend of February 14-17. These changes aim to facilitate crucial maintenance and improvement work.
Southbound I-17 will face a complete closure between Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road starting at 10 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday. This disruption is necessary for pavement and bridge work, and drivers should allow extra travel time. The designated primary detour involves traveling west on Loop 303, south on Lake Pleasant Parkway, and then east on Happy Valley Road.
Additionally, westbound I-10 will be limited to two lanes from Elliot Road to 24th Street during the same time frame, as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. This area is expected to experience significant congestion, compelling drivers to seek alternate routes. Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will also narrow to a single lane between Rural Road and I-10.
Another notable change will occur on northbound State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway). This road will close between I-10 and Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from 10 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Monday. The closures are scheduled for pavement marking and lane shifts, adding to the potential travel delays.
For further details on the travel restrictions this weekend, drivers are advised to consult the Weekend Travel Advisory map or visit the ADOT website.
