Parts of I-10, US 60 and Loop 101 closed, I-17 restricted this weekend, Oct. 11-14

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced significant improvement projects impacting Phoenix-area freeways this weekend, from October 11-14. These projects will lead to various closures and lane restrictions on vital roadways including Interstate 10, US 60, Loop 101, and Interstate 17, particularly during the nighttime hours.

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) and Ray Road from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday. This closure is part of the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, which includes paving and bridge work. Additionally, the ramp from southbound I-17 to eastbound I-10 at the “Split” interchange near Sky Harbor Airport will be closed, along with the southbound SR 143 ramp to eastbound I-10. Other closures include westbound I-10 ramps to eastbound US 60 and northbound SR 143.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during this period. A suggested detour is to use eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to access eastbound I-10 beyond the closure. Most ramp closures will initiate at 8 p.m. Friday.

In addition, westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will be closed between Loop 101 and I-10 during the same time frame for bridge and sign work. This will also affect westbound US 60 on-ramps at Country Club Drive, Alma School Road, and Dobson Road.

For travelers heading to Sky Harbor Airport and downtown Phoenix, a detour using northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) is recommended. Again, note that most ramp closures will begin at 8 p.m. Friday.

Northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) will experience closures between I-10 and Thunderbird Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday for pavement sealing, with detours suggested via northbound 91st or 99th avenues. Southbound Loop 101 will also be closed between Thunderbird Road and I-10 from 9 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday, requiring similar detours.

For a complete listing of restrictions and detailed information, drivers can visit the ADOT website or refer to the Weekend Travel Advisory map graphic.
