Weekend Getaway Alert: What to Know for March 28-31

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is advising motorists of significant closures on eastbound I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport from March 28-31. These restrictions are part of the ongoing I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, which aims to enhance traffic flow in the area.
Eastbound I-10 will be closed between the State Route 51 “Mini-Stack” interchange and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. During this time, several on-ramps, including those from Third Street and Baseline Road to eastbound I-10, will also be closed. Additionally, the southbound connections from both I-17 and SR 143 to eastbound I-10 will be blocked. Some ramp closures will begin as early as 8 p.m. Friday, underscoring the need for travelers to plan for extra travel time.
Motorists heading eastbound on I-10 will be rerouted to eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and can continue on southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to access westbound US 60 or westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway). An alternate route includes using southbound/eastbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) to connect back with I-10 near Chandler Boulevard. Please note, southbound I-17 on-ramps at both Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street will remain closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday.
Additionally, the westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will experience closures between Alma School and Dobson roads from 11:30 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday, for the removal of message signs related to a widening project. The eastbound Loop 202 HOV lane will also be closed between Dobson and Alma School roads. Drivers are encouraged to exit before the closures and utilize Germann or Pecos roads as alternate routes.
For a detailed listing of all traffic restrictions, ADOT encourages travelers to check their website or refer to the Weekend Travel Advisory map graphic.
