Friday Night Fever Week 10 highlights

The regular season for the 2A and 3A high school football teams has concluded, while the 4A, 5A, and 6A teams enter their second-to-last week of play.

As November kicks off, high school football continues to dominate Friday Night Fever, Arizona’s premier high school football showcase. This week marks the end of the regular season for the 2A and 3A conferences; playoff brackets will be announced on Saturday at 9 a.m. during the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s radio show on 1580 AM The Fanatic, with a live stream available on the NFHS Network. Only the top 16 teams, as determined by AIA rankings, will advance to the playoffs starting next week.

Meanwhile, the 4A, 5A, and 6A conferences will finalize their regular seasons. Their playoff brackets, in addition to the Open Division and flag football brackets, will be revealed on November 9 at 8 a.m. during the AIA’s radio broadcast.

In 1A football, the playoffs are already underway, with updates available through various channels.

Week 10 highlights feature several standout matchups. ALA-West Foothills capped off their perfect regular season with a 56-7 victory over Dysart, solidifying their top position in the 3A Metro West region.

Hamilton narrowly defeated Red Mountain 30-28, likely positioning themselves among the top eight teams in the Open Division while diminishing Red Mountain’s playoff prospects. Queen Creek also edged out Highland 23-20, enhancing their chances of entering the Open Division playoffs.

Desert Ridge achieved a region victory against Mesa, winning 38-24, which could position them for a playoff berth. Mountain View stomped Cesar Chavez with a decisive 50-0 victory, likely securing the 6A Fiesta region title.

In a closely contested game, Higley defeated Desert Mountain 15-12, potentially ending Desert Mountain’s hopes for the Open Division. Desert Edge triumphed over Cactus 21-6, clinching first place in the 5A Desert West region, while Notre Dame Prep earned a nail-biting 51-48 victory against ALA-Gilbert North, marking their first win in the 5A Northeast Valley region.

Campo Verde shocked McClintock, who had previously gone unbeaten, with a 34-14 victory, taking first place in the 5A San Tan region.

The Fever Flyover segment featured Horizon’s 40-21 success against Cactus Shadows and Peoria’s 32-21 win over Moon Valley. Additionally, Apollo claimed a 41-26 victory over Agua Fria, as captured by 12Sports.
