Weather Impact Alert: Showers and scattered thunderstorms in the Valley

PHOENIX — The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts showers and scattered thunderstorms developing across the Valley starting Sunday evening and continuing through the night.

Storm activity is beginning to manifest east of Phoenix and in Riverside and La Paz Counties. Additional storms are emerging just south of the city. These weather systems have the potential to bring heavy rain, strong gusty winds, and lightning.

According to NWS, thunderstorms could produce winds strong enough to warrant attention, with rainfall expected to accumulate between a quarter and half an inch in some areas. Localized amounts may exceed this range depending on storm intensity.

As of 3:30 PM, radar indicates ongoing showers and storms around the region, particularly south and east of Phoenix. Some of these storms have already generated gusty winds and even pea to dime-sized hail.

Windy conditions are reported throughout the Valley, prompting NWS to issue special weather statements for areas including Cave Creek, Tolleson, and Cashion, as well as Quartzsite and Parker.

The community is encouraged to monitor updates as conditions change. Photos and videos of the storms can be shared through local platforms and may be featured in upcoming reports.
