Back-to-back burglaries put Rancho residents on alert

Residents of Rancho El Dorado are increasingly on edge following a string of vehicle burglaries. Over two days in mid-September, thieves targeted work trucks, leaving homeowners frustrated and vigilant.

On September 17, approximately $3,300 worth of tools were stolen from a Chevy Silverado parked on Michaels Drive. The owner, Juan Ornelas, reported that three toolboxes and a spray-paint machine disappeared in the early hours. Although his home security cameras recorded a white car nearing the vehicle around 2 a.m., the footage did not capture the burglar’s identity.

The following day, another incident occurred just a mile away on Bravo Court. Dan Sarmento discovered that a person had broken into his work truck at around 3 a.m., stealing various tools before fleeing on a bicycle. Surveillance footage from Sarmento’s camera reveals a figure in a white hoodie and backpack rummaging through the truck twice within an hour.

Both individuals responsible for these crimes have yet to be identified, leaving the community concerned about safety. With burglaries on the rise, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local authorities.
