WATCH: License-Revoked Driver Caught with Cocaine, Ends Up Pepper-Sprayed
Maricopa Police Department has released body camera footage from a traffic stop on December 14 that resulted in the arrest of Patrick A. Flowers.
Flowers, aged 31, was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated DUI, resisting arrest, possession of narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. Additional charges included misdemeanors and driving with a revoked license.
The footage, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by InMaricopa, begins with a backup officer arriving at the traffic stop initiated by an officer who noticed Flowers driving under the speed limit with expired tags.
The bodycam shows the officer placing a spike strip under Flowers’ car before asking him to turn off the vehicle and hand over the keys. Flowers refused to comply.
When officers opened the car door to arrest him, Flowers attempted to resist by holding the door and using his cell phone. An officer threatened and subsequently used pepper spray to subdue him before handcuffing him.
A search of Flowers’ vehicle uncovered 7.2 grams of rock cocaine under the driver’s seat. The case remains under review in Western Pinal Justice Court.
