An unusual incident in Maricopa has sparked widespread attention after a local resident shared surveillance footage of an alleged act of public defecation. The video, posted by Ryan Terrell in a community Facebook group, purportedly shows an unidentified individual engaging in the act on the sidewalk outside his home on September 26, 2024.
“Help me identify this woman,” Terrell urged fellow group members. The 24-second clip depicts a person in winter attire pulling down their pants, defecating, and then casually walking away while sipping from a coffee cup.
The post, which quickly garnered over 1,500 views before being deleted, triggered a flurry of comments. Reactions ranged from humor, with users joking about the coffee’s effect and making light of the situation, to skepticism regarding the authenticity of the event. “This can’t be here,” one user questioned, noting the individual’s warm clothing in a presumably warmer climate.
Adding to the intrigue, the Maricopa Police Department confirmed there had been no reports of such an incident in the area during that time. “Based on what’s provided, there are no reports this week of anything of that nature,” stated spokesperson Monica Williams.
When approached by news outlets to discuss the incident further, Terrell responded with only a laughing emoji, raising additional doubts about the situation’s legitimacy. Further investigation revealed that parts of the video had previously surfaced in a 2021 posting on the Chinese video-sharing site Bilibili, suggesting that Terrell’s claims may not be genuine.
This incident marks another peculiar event for Maricopa. In previous months, a separate case involved a man caught on video engaging in indecent exposure in a store, alongside a woman filmed using someone’s doormat as a toilet. As the narrative unfolds, it appears that Maricopa might have a reputation for more than just its scenic views.
