Vegas man could take plea in criminal damage to multimillion-dollar home

A former Las Vegas resident, Adam G. Canchola, 25, faces felony charges after allegedly inflicting severe damage on a multi-million-dollar property in Lake Havasu City. His upcoming plea could be finalized next month as part of an agreement with Mohave County prosecutors.

Canchola is charged with unlawful use of transportation, criminal damage exceeding $10,000, and a misdemeanor for failing to identify himself to law enforcement. His arrest occurred on August 5 at a residence on Black Hill Place.

Homeless at the time, Canchola had been living with a victim who permitted him and his sister to stay in his home. This was intended to provide them a temporary refuge while they sought employment. Canchola’s sister managed to find work and moved out in June, but Canchola struggled to do the same.

Tensions escalated when the homeowner suspected Canchola of theft. On August 3, he instructed Canchola to find alternative housing. Despite initially allowing Canchola to use his off-highway recreational vehicle for transportation, trust diminished after Canchola received a speeding citation on August 4.

On the night of August 5, while the homeowner was away, emergency alerts indicated canchola was causing destruction at the residence. Upon his return, the victim discovered extensive damage: shattered windows on his luxury vehicles, notably a 2023 Lamborghini and a 2020 McLaren, as well as the absence of his recreational vehicle.

Canchola was later seen returning the missing vehicle, denying any knowledge of the vandalism. Immediately after the victim contacted law enforcement, Canchola fled again in the side-by-side vehicle.

Officers detained canchola nearby, where he initially provided a false identity but was corrected by witnesses. Inside the victim’s home, significant destruction was evident, with furniture damaged, televisions destroyed, and food strewn about the refrigerator.

The extent of the damage prompted law enforcement to call a crime scene technician for evidence documentation. During questioning, Canchola ultimately confessed to the destruction.

Canchola was booked at the Lake Havasu City Police Department and later transferred to Mohave County Jail under a $10,000 bond, which he posted on August 23. He remains free pending his change-of-plea and sentencing hearing scheduled for October 18.
