Urgent: Last Chance to Secure Your Travel ID!

The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) is warning domestic airline travelers that the deadline for obtaining a federally compliant ID is fast approaching. Starting May 7, 2025, passengers will need acceptable identification—such as a valid U.S. passport or the Arizona Travel ID—to pass through Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints at U.S. airports.
To obtain an Arizona Travel ID, applicants must provide specific documentation. Required are proof of identity, such as a birth certificate or passport, a Social Security number (the number only, not the card), and two documents confirming Arizona residency. Acceptable residency proofs include rental agreements, bank statements, and utility bills featuring the applicant’s name and current address.
Residents may visit any MVD office to apply for the Travel ID, but scheduling an appointment through www.azmvdnow.gov is recommended for efficiency. Additionally, authorized third-party locations are available, often with extended hours, including Saturdays. The application fee for the Arizona Travel ID is $25, with further information accessible at www.azdot.gov/TravelID.
