Upward focuses on inclusivity

Upward for Children and Families, a nonprofit organization focused on the education and support of children, is extending its inclusive programs to cater to medically fragile children and their families. Registered with the Arizona Department of Education, Upward AZ integrates a school, childcare services, and a therapy clinic aimed at creating a nurturing, safe environment for all children.

“Our mission is to create a community where every child feels supported, empowered, and celebrated,” stated Alisa Chatinsky, interim CEO of Upward AZ. The organization emphasizes the importance of providing children with complex medical needs access to quality education and adaptive resources.

The nonprofit’s specialized school accommodates medically fragile children aged 3 to 21. With Arizona-certified special education teachers, small class sizes, and dedicated aides, the program ensures individualized attention. Additional services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, which take place on-site with the oversight of licensed therapists.

As the next open enrollment period approaches, Upward AZ encourages families to visit their facility located at 6306 N. 7th St. Tours are available for families to see the inclusive environment, observe classes, and understand the enrollment process tailored to fit each child’s needs.
