UPDATED: Hundreds Regain Power After Swift Outage Recovery

UPDATE 2 p.m. Dec. 12, 2024: Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) has confirmed that power has been restored to all 530 customers affected by today’s outage. 

ORIGINAL STORY 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12, 2024: A power outage this afternoon left 530 customers in Maricopa Meadows, Palo Brea, and Amarillo Creek without electricity. The disruption was reported around 1 p.m. by ED3.

Initial updates indicated that the outage was being assessed as an “ongoing event.” By 1:30 p.m., ED3 had identified the likely cause as a “switching error or maintenance activities.”

Officials did not provide a clear timeline for restoration at that time. Attempts to gather further information from ED3 spokesperson Diana Perkins were unsuccessful.
