Unlock the Secrets of Fire Safety: Essential Tips You Can’t Afford to Ignore!

The Town of Cave Creek is set to host its Spring Brush, Branches & Weeds Roundup on Saturday, April 19. Residents can take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of green waste—specifically weeds, leaves, and small branches—at no cost. This initiative is crucial, as such materials significantly increase wildfire risk.
Past Brush Clean-up events have been remarkably successful, with a total of 160 tons of green waste collected, enhancing the safety of both homes and the wider community. These efforts have also resulted in considerable savings, estimated at around $25,000 for local residents.
The March 15 collection attracted over 125 truckloads of plant material. Jim Ford, the Director of Community Risk Reduction, reported that initial estimates indicate an additional 30 tons were gathered during the event. “We hope for similar success at our next Brush Roundup on April 19 at the Town’s Water Campus on Carefree Highway,” Ford stated.
Establishing defensible space is essential in safeguarding homes and the community against potential fires. Participation in the event is free for Cave Creek residents; however, proof of residency will be required, which can be demonstrated through a driver’s license, utility bill, or a piece of addressed mail.
The collection will take place at the Water Ranch, located at 4300 E. Carefree Hwy. Residents are advised to be prepared to unload debris in designated areas.
