On March 13, the Desert Foothills Gallery committee unveiled its Contemporary Art Show, showcasing a diverse array of local talent. This dedicated team, part of the Sonoran Arts League, includes Valerie Hildebrand, Ronnie Wainwright, Jim and Judy Bruce, Ted Loomis, Patrick O’Grady, Michele Corsini, Sheila Kollasch, Tess Mosko Scherer, and Julie Harmon. Their collaborative efforts have made art installations an annual highlight.

Valerie manages crucial tasks like the prospectus, contracts, and promotional materials. Tess and Sheila curate the artwork, while Ted, Patrick, and Michele handle the physical installation of pieces. Meanwhile, Ronnie, Julie, Jim, Judy, and Valerie oversee the intake and outtake of artworks. Their collective work represents a significant undertaking, occurring four times yearly under the Art in Public Places initiative, which aims to promote arts and education within the community.

The exhibit enhances the library’s atmosphere, making it more vibrant and inviting. An opening reception on March 21 provided a platform for the public to engage with artists, enjoy refreshments, and appreciate live flute music by Ron Bonnstetter. This event also serves as an educational opportunity, offering insights into the artistic process for the league’s members and attendees alike.

A presentation featuring artists Nicolette Bonnstetter, Valerie Hildebrand, Tom Friese, and David Knorr is scheduled for April 17 at 4:00 PM in the library. Further details on their works will be shared in the next column. The library is located at 38443 N. School House Rd, Cave Creek, AZ 85331. Additional shows by the league can be found at the Gallery in Carefree, 7275 E Easy Street #A104, Carefree, AZ 85377.

Exploring art provides not only enjoyment but can also enrich personal spaces, uplift local creators, and strengthen community ties. Supporting the arts ultimately benefits local economies and non-profits.

We encourage visits to the galleries and hope to see you at the upcoming presentations. Remember, “You Gotta Have Art!”
