UniSource to Tackle Customer Concerns in Thursday Town Hall Meeting
Frustration among Lake Havasu City residents over soaring summer energy bills has prompted a response from UniSource Energy Services (UES). Officials from UES have scheduled a town hall meeting for this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center to address the mounting concerns.
The meeting aims to discuss strategies for managing electric bills, particularly during the hot summer months. Residents can expect presentations on low-income assistance programs, time-of-use pricing, and budget-billing options that promise more predictable rates.
Community outrage has grown as residents witnessed their July bills escalate by hundreds of dollars, largely attributed to a recent 12% rate increase sanctioned by the Arizona Corporation Commission. In response, a grassroots petition campaign has gathered over 10,000 signatures from affected customers.
On September 9, campaign organizers had the opportunity to speak with KNTR radio host Paul Lavoie about their concerns and the ongoing situation. This effort highlights the depth of frustration in the community regarding energy rates and the need for a constructive dialogue between residents and utility providers.
