Tucson’s Haunting Delights: Must-See Halloween Events in Southern Arizona
Halloween in Tucson offers a rich array of events beyond conventional trick-or-treating, including ghost tours and local hauntings. Here’s a selection of activities to consider this season.
Nightfall: Reign of Terror
Location: Old Tucson, 201 S. Kinney Rd.
End Date: Sunday, Oct. 27
Old Tucson’s Nightfall: Reign of Terror spans over 20 acres, featuring haunted mazes, stunt shows, and various performances. The 2024 theme centers on Mary Hyde, the Demon Queen of Nightfall. While adult haunts dominate, family-friendly attractions are also available. Tickets start at $29, covering most attractions, though a new séance experience costs an additional $10. A clear bag policy is enforced, and costumes are not allowed.
Terror in the Corn
Location: 13591 W. Avra Valley Rd. (I-10 and Exit 242)
End Date: Thursday, Oct. 31
Terror in the Corn returns to Marana, featuring nine distinct attractions. Highlights include a haunted corn maze, Lost Souls Circus, Bleakmore Asylum, and a Zombie Shootout where participants can engage with live actors. Additional activities such as axe throwing and a magic show are available for an extra fee. General admission is priced at $30.
The Slaughterhouse
Location: 1102 W. Grant Rd.
End Date: Saturday, Nov. 2
Celebrating its 20th year, The Slaughterhouse offers a chilling experience across 50 rooms. The venue now includes a laser combat zone called Apocalypse Zombie Shooting Experience. For those 21 and older, a bar is available alongside food trucks and escape rooms. Tickets are available for $29, while a combination ticket for the haunted house and shooting experience is $39.
Marana Pumpkin Patch
Location: 14950 N. Trico Rd.
End Date: Sunday, Oct. 27
This expansive patch features 50 acres of entertainment, including access to a corn maze and carnival rides. A haunted experience, known as the “Scream” corn maze, begins at 7 p.m. and requires a $25 admission fee.
Trunk-or-Treat
Location: Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E. Ajo Way
Date: Saturday, Oct. 26, 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department invites guests of all ages to their Trunk-or-Treat event, ensuring a safe environment for family fun.
Not Too Frightful Fridays
Location: Trail Dust Town, 6541 E. Tanque Verde Rd.
Dates: Fridays, Oct. 11, 18, 25, 5-8 p.m.
This family-friendly series features themed nights without scare actors. Activities include a haunted train ride, a scavenger hunt, and a costume parade. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $8.
Boo at the Zoo
Location: Reid Park Zoo, 3400 Zoo Court
Dates: Friday, Oct. 18 to Sunday, Oct. 27, 6-8 p.m.
With a focus on family-friendly activities, Boo at the Zoo offers games, photo opportunities, and trick-or-treating. Proceeds support the zoo’s educational and animal care programs. Entrance tickets are priced at $15.
Night at the Museum
Location: Arizona History Museum, 949 E. 2nd St.
Date: Saturday, Oct. 26, 5-8 p.m.
This event includes crafting and scavenger hunts for children, while adults can participate in a ghost hunt at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 7-13.
Nightmare on Congress
Date: Friday, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.
Location: Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St.
This Halloween party is for adults aged 21 and older, featuring live music and a costume contest with $2,000 in prizes. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
