Tucsonans can safely dispose of household hazwaste, old electronics & more on Saturday

The city of Tucson is hosting its monthly household hazardous waste collection event this Saturday, offering residents a chance to dispose of unwanted items responsibly. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at East Side City Hall, located at 7820 E. Broadway.

This initiative, organized by the Environmental and General Services Department, allows residents to safely discard old paint, oil, electronic waste, recyclables, glass bottles, and sensitive documents for shredding. Each household can bring up to three boxes of documents.

Tucson residents can participate for free, while those from nearby suburbs or unincorporated Pima County are required to pay a $10 fee. It’s important to note that certain items will not be accepted, including unknown chemicals, business waste, gas cylinders, and medical waste. A comprehensive list of accepted items is available through city resources.

For convenience, residents can also drop off household hazardous waste at the Los Reales Sustainability Campus, which operates from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, excluding days with scheduled monthly events.

After this weekend’s collection, the next event will be held on Saturday, May 10, at Jacobs Park, located at 3300 N. Fairview Ave. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and take advantage of these opportunities for safe waste disposal.
