Tucker Soars to Become 2-Time Long Jump Regional Champion; Huntsman Secures Pole Vault Title

The Pima Community College men’s track and field team dominated the first day of the Region I Championships at Mesa Community College, firmly establishing their lead. With 137 points, the No. 6-ranked Aztecs are well ahead, followed by Mesa Community College with 58 points and Central Arizona College at 44 points.
Sophomore Nasir Tucker clinched the long jump title, marking a personal best of 7.30 meters (23 feet, 11.50 inches) on his second attempt, contributing 10 crucial points to Pima’s tally. Additionally, fellow sophomore Carter Huntsman secured the pole vault title, achieving a personal best of 4.86 meters (15 feet, 11.25 inches) on his first attempt, also earning 10 points.
Freshman Ketch Sulpizio from Gila Ridge High School finished second in pole vault with a mark of 4.71 meters (15 feet, 5.50 inches), bringing in eight points for the team. In the javelin event, freshman Charles Borowsky recorded a personal best with a throw of 60.63 meters (198 feet, 11 inches), landing in second place and earning eight points.
The men’s 4×800 relay team, featuring freshmen Tayvien Biancuzzo (Mica Mountain HS), Hollace Neasham (Canyon del Oro HS), Aidan Junker, and sophomore Louis Madrigal-Diaz (North Canyon HS), finished second with a time of 7:56.96, thus securing eight additional points.
Freshman Isaiah Jordan contributed to the team’s success by placing third in the long jump with a leap of 7.12 meters (23 feet, 4.50 inches), adding six points to their total.
Other notable finishes for Pima included Nathaniel Curtiss (Rincon/University HS) in fourth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.81 meters (22 feet, 4.25 inches), and Matthew Edge (Hamilton HS) also finishing fourth in pole vault at 4.11 meters (13 feet, 5.75 inches). Each earned five points for their respective events.
Additional team point contributions came from Martin Valencia-Felix (St. Augustine Catholic HS) in fourth place in javelin (53.41 meters), Benjamin Morgan (Sabino HS) in fourth place in hammer throw (45.88 meters), and Evan Rasoumoff (Catalina Foothills HS) in fourth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:54.02), each securing five points as well.
Zack Comaduran (Marana HS) rounded out the scoring with an eighth place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, earning one point. The Aztecs are set to continue their competition on Thursday for the final day of the Region I Championships at Mesa Community College.
