TREY TRAINOR: Urgent Call to Action for Passage and Enforcement of the SAVE Act

By Trey Trainor |
As confidence in democratic institutions wanes, the sanctity of elections remains paramount. The strength of our Republic hinges on public trust in the ballot box, making the recent passage of the SAVE Act (H.R. 22) both timely and vital.
The SAVE Act builds upon President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections.” This order emphasized a critical truth: fair elections are essential to our constitutional republic. President Trump underscored that threats such as foreign interference and voter fraud necessitate decisive action.
H.R. 22 codifies key provisions from that executive order, requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to vote, enhancing voter roll maintenance, and mandating transparent election audits. These measures respond to widespread concerns regarding election integrity, closing loopholes while modernizing electoral systems to address current challenges.
Last Thursday, the House of Representatives passed the SAVE Act with bipartisan support, sending a strong message: election integrity transcends political lines. The onus now lies with the United States Senate. Immediate action is required to pass the SAVE Act and forward it to the President for enactment.
However, legislation alone is insufficient.
For the SAVE Act to truly protect election integrity, it must be rigorously implemented at the state level. This responsibility is not just policy; it’s a matter of national security. Every Secretary of State and election official must prioritize the integrity of the ballot. State attorneys general must also commit to enforcing this law with unwavering resolve.
The role of state attorneys general extends beyond traditional enforcement duties. They must become proactive protectors of fair elections, investigating potential fraud and ensuring compliance with measures like the SAVE Act. Failing to act is a dereliction of duty that compromises the Constitution and the public trust.
Inaction equates to complicity. When it comes to elections, complacency can undermine public confidence and weaken the foundations of our democracy.
The SAVE Act represents a crucial opportunity to rebuild that trust. It warrants bipartisan backing, comprehensive implementation, and vigilant enforcement. The American populace demands transparency and fairness. We owe it to them and future generations to uphold these standards.
It’s time to respond with clarity and determination.
Let’s safeguard the vote.
Let’s safeguard America.
