Tragic Workplace Incident: Father of Three and Fiancée Mourn Sudden Loss

Drew Cook’s fiancée, Brook Bartlett, said one of the most difficult parts is watching her children grieve for their hero.
SURPRISE, Ariz. — A local family is mourning the sudden loss of 30-year-old Drew Damon Cook, who died in an unexplained accident at work just 10 days before his 31st birthday.
According to family members, Cook was a dedicated worker at Cool Blew A/C. Jana Bartlett, Cook’s future mother-in-law, shared that her son, who worked alongside Cook, rushed to inform her of the accident.
Jana recounted, “My husband escorted Brook, his fiancée, to the hospital, and I stayed back with their small children. By the time she arrived, he was gone.”
Brook Bartlett, who had known Cook since she was 15, described that day to 12News as one of the worst of her life. “I had an out-of-body experience when they told me he was gone. I screamed the worst scream you could ever imagine,” she said.
The mystery surrounding Cook’s death remains. Brook mentioned that he was working in a home’s attic when the homeowner heard a loud thud and found Cook on the ground. “We don’t know if it was related to electricity or possibly heat stroke,” Jana Bartlett explained.
Cook was known to juggle up to four jobs to provide for his family, allowing Brook to stay home and raise their three children. “Our oldest, who is 10, is having the hardest time since he has the most memories of his dad,” Brook said. “Our 2-year-old keeps saying she misses her daddy all day. It’s heartbreaking.”
Cook’s family described him as an outdoor enthusiast and a selfless individual. “He was so kind and funny, and he would’ve done anything for the people he cared about,” Jana added.
“He’s been everything to me since I was 15, and I don’t know how I’m going to cope,” Brook said.
The family is currently awaiting results from the medical examiner to determine the cause of Cook’s death. They have also set up a GoFundMe page to support Brook and her children through this difficult time.
