Tragic Rollover Crash on I-10 Claims Life of Young Passenger Near Queen Creek Road
CHANDLER, Ariz. — A tragic accident on Interstate 10 eastbound near Queen Creek Road resulted in the death of a young boy early Tuesday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Witnesses reported that the crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. as an SUV was entering the highway. It suffered a tire failure, veered into the dirt median, and then re-entered the roadway where it rolled over. A pickup truck subsequently collided with the overturned vehicle.
The driver of the SUV sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Sadly, the juvenile passenger in the front seat died at the scene, although authorities have yet to release the boy’s age or identity.
Traffic in the area was heavily affected; the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) closed the eastbound lanes shortly after 7 a.m. due to the incident. The road reopened approximately three hours later, allowing traffic to resume.
