Tragic Freeway Dash: Arizona Man’s Run Ends in Fatal Collision

A man ran across a freeway in Arizona. 2 cars crashed as a results and a person in 1 of the cars has died.


PHOENIX — A crash on eastbound Interstate 10 near Warner Road has led to a closure, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The incident was triggered when state troopers attempted to take a man into custody who had run onto the freeway.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that they were called to the scene due to the man being in the westbound lanes. Upon arrival, troopers attempted to apprehend him, but he fled across the westbound lanes, jumped over the median, and entered eastbound traffic.

The situation escalated when the man was struck by a vehicle. In the midst of apprehending him, a subsequent collision occurred involving two other vehicles, resulting in the death of a passenger and injuries to both drivers.

Significant traffic backups are reported in the area. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Currently, there is no estimated time for the reopening of the freeway.
