Tragic Fall: Tree Trimmer Succumbs After Accident at Palm Tree Summit

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to a tragic incident on Saturday morning at 67th Avenue and Thomas Road.
A man identified as 43-year-old Jaime Yepiz died after being rescued from the top of a palm tree, where he had been working as a tree trimmer. The emergency call came in at 9:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from firefighters.
Witnesses reported that Yepiz had climbed approximately 50 feet to perform trimming work. Two co-workers were on-site but could not assist him effectively. Fire crews utilized an aerial ladder and platform to reach the man and employed a chainsaw to clear dried fronds obstructing their access.
After several minutes of effort, firefighters reached Yepiz, who was found unconscious near the trunk. He was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition but sadly later succumbed to his injuries.
