Sheriff: Father dies during Arizona hiking trip

A tragic incident occurred in Yavapai County, Arizona, when a 69-year-old man died during a family hiking trip on Parson’s Trail in Clarkdale.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man’s daughter had called for assistance at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The father had collapsed during the hike.

The family had spent the day at a nearby swimming hole. Upon deciding to leave, the man collapsed roughly half a mile from the trailhead. Attempts to call 911 were hampered due to limited phone service in the area.

When deputies arrived, they found the man had already passed away. His body is to be examined by the medical examiner.

Authorities noted that dehydration and high blood pressure were likely contributing factors in the man’s death.

This unfortunate event highlights the dangers of outdoor activities in conditions involving extreme physical exertion and challenging environmental factors.
