PHOENIX — A tragic accident occurred early today when a man crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Watkins Street, just south of Interstate 17. According to police reports, the single-vehicle incident transpired shortly before 1 a.m.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the driver injured and lying in the roadway. Emergency responders quickly transported him to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released, and authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured as a result of the incident.
