Tragic Apartment Blaze Claims Life of Elderly Man in North Phoenix

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire that led to the death of an elderly man in north Phoenix. Authorities reported that the incident occurred near Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from the second story of the complex. While battling the blaze, they discovered the elderly man inside an apartment and swiftly extricated him. He was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

No injuries to firefighters were reported during the incident. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, although officials do not suspect foul play at this time. The investigation is ongoing, focused on the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
