UPDATES: Driver dead in 347 rollover

A tragic rollover crash on State Route 347 resulted in one fatality early on August 17, 2024. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the accident involved a northbound pickup truck that apparently veered into the median before rolling over.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries in the accident, according to officials. The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. near the Pinal County line, north of Cement Plant Road.

The crash led to the closure of southbound lanes of State Route 347 between Riggs and Cement Plant roads, causing significant traffic disruptions. ADOT and state troopers quickly responded to the scene, as evidenced by traffic camera footage capturing their presence at the intersection of Cement Plant Road.

By 5:51 a.m., authorities announced that the roadway had been reopened, although the cause of the rollover remained under investigation. A DPS spokesperson noted that further details regarding the extent of injuries, aside from the reported fatality, were not yet known.

This incident marks a somber reminder of the dangers posed by vehicle accidents on Arizona’s roadways. Updates on the investigation will be provided as more information becomes available.
