Town of Carefree to Host Memorial Day Tribute honoring fallen heroes

The Town of Carefree is set to host its Memorial Day Tribute on Monday, May 26, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Cave Creek Memorial Cemetery, located at 36400 N Pima Rd, Carefree, AZ. This annual gathering honors the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for our country.

The event will unite residents, veterans, students, and local organizations in a solemn observance of Memorial Day. It serves as a moment of reflection and appreciation for the freedoms safeguarded by military service members.

Mayor John Crane emphasized the town’s commitment, stating, “The Town of Carefree has a proud tradition of honoring our veterans.” He stressed the importance of recognizing those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The tribute will feature notable speakers and performances, including high school senior Sophia Stasik’s renditions of the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful.” Additionally, Vietnam War veteran Mike Wold will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and Pastor Steve Gilbertson will offer an invocation.

Boy Scout Troop 603 will carefully present and retire the colors, adding to the tribute’s solemnity. Imprints of Honor, previously known as the Veterans Heritage Project, will also be present, emphasizing the younger generation’s commitment to honoring veterans’ legacies. The Black Mountain Foothills Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will provide refreshments for attendees.

This tribute, set in a quaint pioneer cemetery, emphasizes the importance of honoring those who defended our freedom. The Town of Carefree encourages community members to participate in this meaningful Memorial Day Tribute, standing together in remembrance and gratitude.
